The Police Chief is responsible for managing and directing the efficient delivery of police services to Oakdale’s residents and developing short- and long-range plans that address the city’s public safety needs. The 2021 operating budget for the department is $5.8 million. The 40-member department includes the chief, one captain, five sergeants, 25 officers and a civilian staff of 8.5 employees. Patrol officers are represented by LELS, and the sergeants and captain are represented by the Teamsters Union. The Police Chief supervises the Police Captain and is ultimately responsible for all police staff, both sworn and non-sworn. The Police Chief reports directly to the City Administrator.
