OSDH is seeking a full time Pharmacy Technician II providing support to the Emergency Preparedness and Response Service Health Department. These classified positions (PIN#34000585) are in state government, located in Oklahoma City, OK. Positions in this job family are assigned responsibilities for assisting in filling prescriptions and dispensing drugs in a state institution or state warehouse or hospital; may compound drugs under close supervision. This is the career level where employees are assigned responsibilities for assisting registered pharmacists in filling prescriptions, maintaining an inventory of drugs and medicines and other related technical duties. Limited responsibilities may be assigned for providing training and assistance to pharmacy clerks.
Position Responsibilities /Essential Functions
•Assists pharmacist in filling prescriptions and counting pills; uses repackaging machine; and heat sealer.
•Receives, maintains, and completes inventory reports for medical and pharmaceuticals requisitioned.
•Types labels and posts all information on appropriate records.
•Distributes filled and labeled prescriptions to County Health departments.
•Ensures that drug supplies are used according to dates; removes outdated supplies from stock; assists in maintaining inventory; requisitions supplies; checks incoming supplies for dates, dosage and conformance with requisition.
•Cleans and maintains pharmaceutical equipment; prepares standard solutions.
•Assists on occasion with other Pharmacy warehouse duties.
Valued Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Required at this level include knowledge of pharmaceutical inventory system; of basic pharmacology; of the procedures followed in filling, labeling and distributing medical prescriptions; of the use of scales, measures and other dispensing devices; and of hospital supply procurement procedures. Ability is required to follow pharmacist's instructions precisely; and to complete necessary records on drug supply and issuance. Also, must have computer skills in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
Work is typically performed in an office setting and occasionally in a warehouse environment. While performing the duties of the job, the employee is required to talk, stand, walk and reach with hands and arms. This position requires periods of sitting and daily use of computer, phone, and heat sealer. This position may require performing moderate lifting, use a pallet jack, and pushing/pulling a cart. Must be able to lift/carry 25 pounds.

The Pharmacy Technician job family consists of two levels which are distinguished based on the complexity of the assigned duties and the expertise required to complete assigned tasks.
This is the career level of this job family where employees are assigned responsibilities for assisting registered pharmacists in filling prescriptions, maintaining an inventory of drugs and medicines and other related technical duties. Limited responsibilities may be assigned for providing training and assistance to pharmacy clerks .
Education and Experience requirements at this level consist of two years of experience as a pharmacy clerk and possession of a pharmacy technician permit issued by the Oklahoma Board of Pharmacy and/or other recognized pharmacy technician certification board as required by the hiring entity; or an equivalent combination of education and experience, substituting the completion of thirty semester hours of college course work for each year of the required experience.
