Contra Costa County's Health Services Department is offering an excellent career opportunity for individuals interested in a Public Health Microbiologist position.
Public Health Microbiologists are responsible for performing bacteriological, parasitological, serological, and virological examinations on human, animal, food and water specimen. The incumbents will prepare specimens for analysis, make slide examinations, and perform cultural procedures which result in the identification of pathogenic bacteria such as tuberculosis or enteric organisms. The incumbents will also analyze food, milk, and water samples for pathogenic bacteria and toxic agents and perform serological tests on blood serum as an aide in the diagnosis of various diseases.

The eligible list established from this recruitment may remain in effect for six months.
License Required: Possession of a valid certificate as a Public Health Microbiologist issued by the California State Department of Health.
Other Requirements: A background investigation/fingerprint and/or physical exam may be required prior to the start of employment.

DISASTER SERVICE WORKER
All Contra Costa County employees are designated Disaster Service Workers through state and local law. Employment with the County requires the affirmation of a loyalty oath to this effect. Employees are required to complete all Disaster Service Worker-related training as assigned, and to return to work as ordered in the event of an emergency.
