The City of Riverside is accepting applications for the position of WORKERS' COMPENSATAION ASSISTANT (Confidential) to fill one (1) current vacancy in the Workers' Compensation Division of the Human Resources Department. The eligibility list established may be utilized to fill the current and/or upcoming vacancies within this classification for up to six (6) months.
The Workers' Compensation Assistant works under general supervision, to perform specialized clerical support assistance in City's self-insured and self-administered Workers' Compensation Program; to monitor and process claims for Workers' Compensation benefits, to provide responsible administrative support to higher level staff; and to perform related duties as required. Incumbents in this class perform entry level claims handling and examining and related duties.
The ideal candidate will possess State of California certification as as Workers' Compensation Claims Administrator, Municipal Government workers' compensation claims processing experience; sworn safety personnel workers' compensation claims experience, and experience using Laserfiche or other electronic archiving software.
Typical duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
Education: High school graduation or satisfactory equivalent.
Experience: Three years of experience processing workers' compensation claims or performing administrative/office work in a workers' compensation related environment or completed at least 80 hours of training, with 50 hours conducted in a classroom with an instructor from an accredited college or the Insurance Education Association (IEA). Experience with computers and word processing software is required.
