Minnesota Specialty Health System (MSHS) in Wadena is seeking a Mental Health Practitioner to join our team in providing rehabilitation and supportive residential services for individuals with serious mental illness and possible co-occurring disorders. As an Intensive Residential Treatment Services (IRTS) facility, MSHS Wadena focuses on rehabilitative education, building interpersonal skills, and developing community engagement skills to increase each client's independence and self-management of their illness, behavior, and emotion.

Job Duties:
  • Assist clients in identifying their goals and develop an individualized rehabilitation plan to help them achieve those goals
  • Provides updates to staff, clients, and community providers about client progress and discharge planning
  • Conduct skill development activities to help individuals improve skills needed for discharge, such as cooking, personal hygiene, budgeting, and household organization.
  • Participate as a team member to coordinate and collaborate consistently with established team operations.
  • Serve as lead worker to ensure delivery of the medication program and other services during a designated shift.


Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

To qualify, applicants must:

Meet the requirements for a Mental Health Practitioner as defined in MN Statute 245I.04, subdivision 4 ; AND

2 years of combined experience in at least 4 of the 6 activities listed below:
  • Providing direct care and therapeutic support to individuals
  • Assisting with assessment of behavior health challenges including data collection
  • Experience leading and/or facilitating educational groups or therapeutic activities with individuals with mental health symptoms
  • Experience developing or implementing support plans or treatment plans that addresses behavior through adaptations, activities, interventions, education, engagement, and support
  • Assisting in planning and hand-off communication of support plans and strategies for supporting individuals upon discharge
  • Developing/assisting in development of behavioral interventions and recommendations for interdisciplinary staff implementation

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience designing, implementing, and documenting behavior modification programs for developmentally delayed and/or mentally ill clients.
  • Knowledge of medications and medication control procedures sufficient to identify behavioral concerns which may be related to medications, or the need for medication.
