Job Purpose

The Facility Maintenance Mechanic overarching goal is to ensure the facility, along with its machinery and equipment, operates with maximum efficiency and effectiveness. Their core duty involves conducting general maintenance and repairs on machinery, mechanical systems, and infrastructure to uphold safety standards and reduce downtime.

Job Responsibilities

  • Conducting routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and repairs on various types of machinery and equipment used in the chemical manufacturing process. This includes, but is not limited to, reactors, pump and valves, mixers and agitators, storage tanks, instrumentation, and control systems
  • Perform general facility maintenance, including HVAC system maintenance, building exterior maintenance, security system maintenance, fire safety system maintenance and equipment maintenance on an as needed basis.
  • Duties will primarily be performed in a chemical manufacturing environment. Assigned work uniform and protective eye wear must be worn in addition to any PPE that must be worn, if indicated, on the plant floor.
  • Maintain a clean work area and ensure department spare parts inventory is up to date and organized.
  • Other tasks and duties as assigned. Tasks may include painting, carpentry, HVAC filter replacement, lighting fixture repairs, and other general maintenance duties to ensure the functionality and aesthetics of the workspace.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Experienced Maintenance Mechanic with over 5 years of hands-on experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
  • Vocational training or certification in mechanical, electrical, or industrial maintenance preferred.
  • Ability to troubleshoot common electrical and plumbing issues efficiently to ensure uninterrupted operations.
  • Proficient in replacing and installing various electrical components commonly found in industrial machinery and equipment.
  • Expertise in diagnosing electrical problems, conducting root cause analysis, and implementing effective repair solutions.
  • Skilled in using testing equipment, reading schematics, and identifying faults in electrical systems and machinery.
