The Quality Engineer will support the SLS Stages Element of the MSMAS contract located at the NASA's Michoud Assembly Facility (MAF) in Louisiana.


RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide technical reviews for assurance of quality requirements compliance during hardware production and manufacturing processes.
  • Provide support on all quality areas to include quality plans, surveillance plans, inspection instructions, first article inspections, and nonconformance resolutions.
  • Participate in government milestone reviews to evaluate certification requirements affecting design, safety, production, testing, and operation.
  • Support material review boards, participate in corrective action activity to improve product quality.
  • Participate in problem and failure investigations to determine root cause.
  • Provide support on all quality areas to include quality plans, surveillance plans, inspection instructions, first article inspections, and NC resolutions.
  • Perform and develop complex data analysis on component and system test results to identify trends, anomalies, and areas for improvement.
  • Conduct detailed risk assessments to identify potential quality issues within the SLS program's design, manufacturing, and assembly processes.
  • Support the quality assurance team in the development of comprehensive inspection criteria and procedures.

REQUIRED:

  • This position requires US Citizenship due to the sensitivity of customer related information.
  • Must have a bachelor's degree in the field of engineering, or a related field.
  • Must have 1+ years of recent and related experience in production/manufacturing environment preferred (work or school).
  • Possess a working knowledge of AS9100 quality system requirements.
  • Ability to read drawings/blueprints, technical charts, and specification sheets.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to work with complex data sets and statistical analysis tools.

DESIRED:

  • Experience in high-reliability field such as aerospace and/or space flight.
  • Knowledge of thermal protection system, thrust vector controls, or acceptance data package experience is highly desired.
  • Experience working with aerospace flight hardware in a manufacturing and production environment.

WORK LOCATION:

  • This position is located onsite.

BACKGROUND INVESTIGATIONS REQUIRED:

All Bastion employees must be able to pass a national agency check, some positions require a clearance and will require an extensive background verification/check process.

All Bastion employees must be able to pass pre-employment drug screen; some contracts require participation in periodic random drug and alcohol screening programs.

  • Must have experience with Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Must have a strong work ethic and must be safety culture oriented.
  • Must be organized with good time management skills.
  • Generally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on the task.
  • Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of time).
  • May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of time).
  • Regular attendance in accordance with an established work schedule is critical.
  • Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements.
