Job Title: Production Supervisor

Reports to: Production Manager

Job Summary: Responsible for delivering operational targets, supervising an engaged production team, driving safety, quality, associate development, and team engagement, as well as coordinating resource requirements, effectively communicating priorities, and escalating issues within area to supervisor or senior management.

Essential Functions:

  • Interpreting the production schedule and communicating with the Production Manager daily. This includes attendance in production meetings.
  • Ensuring that material is in stock, pulled, and staged in the proper order to run down the production line in the most efficient manner that meets our customer’s requirements.
  • Understand the expected production rate and report to superiors when the line is not producing as expected.
  • Understand how to read all order paperwork to ensure proper production.
  • Ensure that all employees know how to perform their operations correctly for manufacturing method and provide necessary training.
  • Cross-train employees on the line to insure there are back-ups for employees who are absent or on vacation.
  • Have the capability to run all production equipment and perform all aspects of production.

Competencies:

  • Ability to follow instructions from supervisors or senior management.
  • Demonstrated ability to read CAD production drawings.
  • Excellent computer skills.
  • English reading and writing skills required.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills for prioritizing daily and long-term tasks.
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
  • 3 years related manufacturing experience or be willing to learn.
  • 6-12 months Supervising others, or someone who is well respected and an informal Supervisor within a factory.
  • Math and Measurements: Able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide whole numbers, fractions, and decimal equivalents. Able to use and read a tape measure to 1/32” tolerance, use combination squares to measure angles to +/- 1 degree use and read a micrometer, caliper, and interpret CAD production drawings.
  • Willing to learn Lean Manufacturing: One-piece continuous flow, elimination of wasteful steps, 6S, & Kanban.
  • Interpersonal Skills: The ability to give full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.
  • The ability to read and understand information and ideas presented in writing.
  • Speaking: Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.
  • Bi-Lingual English/Spanish preferred.

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to lift objects up to 50 lbs., and other physical activity and work.
  • Ability to use hand tools and power tools.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Utilizing a computer and other office peripherals.

Required Education and Experience:

  • High School or GED
