Physical Requirements
This position requires intermittently sitting at a computer workstation; performing tasks with repetitive motions (such as typing); standing or walking with objects weighing up to 10 pounds; lifting, pushing, and/or pulling objects weighing up to 50 pounds; and occasionally standing or walking with objects weighing up to 25 pounds. Also involves some risk of back injury from moving, lifting or positioning patients, equipment, or materials; risk of injuries from use of equipment on the job; and exposure to blood-borne or airborne pathogens, hazardous chemicals and fumes including waste, cuts/punctures, burns, and combative/violent people.
Shift
Day shift, 8:00am – 5:00pm with some holiday requirements; hours and days of the week subject to change based on the needs and growth of the department.
Job Summary
In this role, the pharmacist will be integral to the UK Specialty Pharmacy and Infusion Services, focusing on both sterile and non-sterile compounding workflows while ensuring compliance with
USP standards,
URAC and
ACHC accreditation, Joint Commission standards, and preparation for any future accreditations. Responsibilities include completing committee work pertinent to sterile and non-sterile processes. The candidate will deliver comprehensive pharmaceutical care to patients requiring both specialty and non-specialty medications, adhering to accreditation standards and fulfilling contractual obligations. Key duties involve acting as the primary liaison between UK Specialty Pharmacy and UK’s ambulatory clinics; ensuring safe, effective, and cost-efficient medication therapy is implemented and monitored for all patients; facilitating the formulary review process; participating in relevant hospital and/or departmental committees; and establishing safe practices for infusion therapy management. Additionally, the role encompasses supervising PharmD students, technicians, and providing educational programs for hospital staff, as well as fostering collaboration and communication with multidisciplinary team members involved in patient care.

Strong clinical skills; knowledge of inpatient drug distribution and dispensing; ability to prioritize; excellent communication skills; team mentality; desire to teach; and motivation are required to excel in this position.

Experience with home infusion; hospital infusion centers; and Specialty Pharmacy; Board certified in Specialty Pharmacy.
