Salary Range: $63,000-$85,000


At Midland States Bank, base salary is one component of our Total Rewards program. Exact compensation is determined by factors such as (but not limited to) education, skills, internal equity, and experience. This position offers additional compensation in the form of short-term incentives (i.e. bonus and/or commission) and may include long-term incentives (i.e. stock awards). Position Summary


As a member of the finance team, this position is responsible for supporting the monthly accounting cycle for the Company and its subsidiaries, including operational accounting and financial reporting related tasks. This position will assist with the timely and accurate preparation of regulatory, SEC and management reports for the Company.

Primary Accountabilities

  • Prepare complex journal entries and supporting documentation in accordance with GAAP.
  • Complete complex account reconciliations and analysis of balance sheet accounts.
  • Verify that all adjustments for month-end accruals for revenue and expenses, prepaid asset amortization and other closing entries are properly recorded to maintain accurate financial records in accordance with GAAP.
  • Assist with the month end close process; review financial results for accuracy and completeness.
  • Perform monthly variance analysis on assigned general ledger accounts.
  • Prepare executive and board-level reports.
  • Prepare regulatory reports including the Call Report, FRY9C, FRY9LP, FRY6, FRY8, FR2900, Summary of Deposits and any new or additional regulatory reports that may be required.
  • Responsible to ensure changes and updates to regulatory reporting requirements are identified and incorporated into the companies’ schedules and reports, as needed.
  • Prepare financial schedules for all external SEC reporting requirements.
  • Interact with management, external auditors and regulatory agencies concerning accounting and SOX requirements.
  • Research relevant accounting standards, pronouncements and guidance
  • Assist with special projects and ad-hoc requests, as necessary.
  • Develop procedures that ensure ongoing adherence to all internal and external control requirements related to areas of responsibility.
  • Identify and implement operational improvement opportunities.
  • The role requires occasional travel for training and team meetings, and willingness to travel periodically, to locations within market as needed.
  • May require work in a Midland office to ensure collaboration and support of internal and external customers.
  • Maintain compliance with all applicable regulations including, but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA).
  • Other duties as assigned.


Position Qualifications

Education/Experience:


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • 5+ years relevant accounting and banking experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn and use new software and programs.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with internal and external clients.
  • Works well in team environment.
  • Self-motivated and strong team player.
