Gain real world experience through our hands on internship program. As the CIM QC Tech intern you get the opportunity to test and manage the concrete quality, design mixes, maintain project files, schedule trial batches, monitor the mix submittal process, and job service requirements. You would also communicate directly with customers to understand their mix requirements and with the sales teams to review project specifications and perform mix submittals.

Responsible For:

  • Diagnose and analyze concrete performance issues or any concerns customers may have in the performance of mixes.
  • Maintain all records and writes reports outlining results in the QC testing process.
  • Carry out all pertinent ASTM, ACI, and DOT testing procedures to provide Quality Control/Assurance and data for producing quality concrete that meets customer specifications.
  • Assess jobsite conditions and recommend solutions to ensure efficient operations.
  • Evaluate existing quality or production standards and procedures, recommend modifications, and leads their implementation.
  • Communicate with all parties regarding the design mixes being utilized and admixture dosage rates to ensure high quality dynamically.
  • Participate in project meetings with customers and their engineering staff regarding concrete deliveries, concrete performance, and the mix submittal process.
  • Maintain lab area and equipment according to industry standards.
  • Follow and promote company safety and environmental rules, regulations, and policies.

What we are looking for:

  • Currently enrolled in the Concrete Industry Management Program at South Dakota State University
  • Working knowledge of concrete admixtures, supplementary cementitious materials, various aggregates, and their impact on the performance of concrete mix designs.
  • High level of attention to detail in monitoring, testing, and documentation.
  • Strong reasoning and math abilities.
  • Knowledge of ready-mix manufacturing design, processes, and equipment.
  • Familiarity with all commonly used computer software (MS OfficeSuite, etc.).
  • Must be able to lift up to fifty pounds on a regular basis.
  • Ability to handle loading and unloading of cylinders and other physical activities as required from time to time.
  • Available to work on a flexible schedule (days, nights, weekend)
