Job Description:

About the Role

Dow Jones is seeking an experienced VP of Technology, Products and Platforms with proven skills as a technical leader to build, mentor, and guide our team of web and app engineers. You will be responsible for shaping and executing our product and platform strategy, building and enhancing our consumer and B2B product across multiple platforms and surfaces, ensuring they have the best applications to deliver our award-winning journalism, news, tools, and financial insights that move markets and inform critical decisions.

As a leader in the engineering team, you will be involved in every aspect of the product development process, from brainstorming and ideation to production launch and on-going development. You will lead an engineering organization ensuring our web and mobile product teams deliver high-quality software products on time and within budget.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the product engineering team, setting the strategic technical direction for our web and mobile products and platforms.
  • Collaborate with product management, design, and other stakeholders to prioritize and deliver - on time and on budget - new products, new features, and enhancements.
  • Define and execute the technical roadmap for our products, aligning with business objectives and customer needs.
  • Establish and monitor KPIs to measure the effectiveness and impact of engineering initiatives.
  • Stay up-to-date on the latest web and mobile technologies and be opportunistic on new advancements
  • Foster a culture of excellence, inclusivity, innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning.
  • Hire, develop, and retain top engineering talent
  • Ensure the performance, scalability, security, and reliability of our products, optimizing for speed, responsiveness, and engagement.
  • Stay abreast of emerging technologies, industry trends, and competitive landscape.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • Proven track record of leadership and technical expertise in product engineering and / or mobile and web engineering, with at least 8 years of experience.
  • Extensive experience building, securing, and scaling high-traffic, consumer-facing websites and mobile applications.
  • Strong understanding of web technologies and modern front-end frameworks (e.g., React, Next.js).
  • Strong understanding of mobile technologies and frameworks (e.g., Objective C, SwiftUI, Kotlin, Jetpack Compose)
  • Experience with agile development methodologies and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Proven success building and growing subscription and / or commerce products.
  • Experience leveraging data and analytics to deliver measurable product improvements.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams and stakeholders.
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to align technology approach with business goals.
  • Experience working in media a plus.

Pay Range: $140,000 - $450,000
