Clemson University Job ID:108833 Location:Old Main Full/Part Time:Full-Time Regular/Temporary:Regular JOB SUMMARY: Plans, designs, implements, and evaluates a variety of professional duties, including advising, counseling, recruiting, and retaining of students within the College of Education. Performs other duties as assigned. JOB DUTIES: 40% - Essential - Advising: Plans, implements, and evaluates advising and counseling activities for students in the CoE through a variety of areas, including admission procedures, course selection and registration, academic progress, policy interpretation, career overviews, change of major, exam requirements, transfer credit, course substitution, and personal development. Maintains accurate advising records and complete administrative tasks in a timely manner. Implements and evaluates a 4-year advising model for impact on student development and retention. Builds positive relationships with advisees. 25% - Essential - Counseling: Provides supportive counseling. Refers students to campus services. Follows federal guidelines when handling parent/outside inquiries. Plans, implements, and evaluates new student orientation and support programs. Evaluates and determines use of transfer credits to develop academic plans and address issues that might hinder a smooth transition to Clemson for transfer students. Advises and assists students changing to education majors. Evaluates enrolled education students for admission to the professional level of education and complete other task as required by accreditation guidelines. 15% - Essential - Liaising and Communication: Provides assistance to faculty about CoE and University resources, attends program meetings, and supports faculty mentoring. Liaises with department chairs, the field experiences office, and advising offices in other colleges. Represents the advising office on College and University committees. Contributes to the development and implementation of new degree programs and transfer pathway partnerships. Assists with ongoing implementation of University Bridge to Clemson Program and transfer pathway partnerships with state technical colleges. Distributes information to students via technology platforms (Canvas, etc.). 10% - Essential - Recruiting and Outreach: Recruits prospective/admitted students to the CoE by providing them with accurate information and facts about the CoE's academic programs. Meets with prospective/admitted students and their families who are interested in enrolling in education programs at Clemson. Collaborates in the planning, implementation and evaluation of recruiting activities at University and College level events for prospective and admitted students (Day in the Life, Experience Clemson, Family Weekend, etc.). Participates in recruiting and special events. Assists in the production of recruiting materials and displays. 10% - Essential - Student Support Services: Plans, implements, and evaluates activities designed to retain students within CoE majors. Maintains advising records, inputs data into Clemson systems, and utilizes software to run campaigns for the purpose of supporting student success and retention. Assists with production of advising center publications. Promotes study abroad and other experiential education opportunities. May serve as the signatory for SC Teacher Loan and federal TEACH Grant applications and liaises with financial aid as necessary. Supports and assists with student advisory board and student organization initiatives. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Education - Bachelor's Degree - Experience in student service programs Experience - 1+ years of work experience in student services programs PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS: Education - Master's Degree Experience - 1+ years of work experience in undergraduate academic advising, working with non-traditional students, and/or experience in K12 education RESPONSIBILITIES: JOB KNOWLEDGE Firm Job Knowledge - Firm working knowledge of concepts, practices and procedures and ability to use in varied situations SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES No Supervisory Duties - Not responsible for supervising employees.
