$49.16-$78.18 per hour, based on RN Degree and level of experience

The OHSU Clinical registered nurse (RN) provides compassionate, evidence-based, and efficient care to individuals, families, communities and patient populations. Description of work:

Responsible for the delivery of appropriate, timely and beneficial care for patients which promotes quality and cost-effective health care outcomes working within established standards for case management practice, and Advance Access principles. Provides standard nursing care for patients throughout the age continuum. Responsible for active management of patients. Maintains compliance with applicable laws such as client confidentiality, Americans with Disabilities Act, Workers’ Compensation, abuse reporting, principles of consent, and advanced medical directives. Advocates for the client/family at the service-delivery level and at the policy-making level fostering the client/family’s decision-making, independence, and growth and development. Integrates factors related to quality, safety, efficiency, and cost effectiveness in planning, delivering, monitoring and evaluating client care promoting the most effective and efficient use of human and financial resources. Functions as the liaison between referral providers and GP providers. Participates in clinic, department, OHSU campus, teams and committees. Assist in the implementation of nursing system that supports the mission of the American Academy of Ambulatory Care Nursing. (AAACN).

Clinical Skills and Duties:

  • Participate in Risk Stratification for team patient population
  • Participate in the development of Care Management
  • Perform hospital follow up calls.
  • Follows standing orders/protocols in assisting with patient care.
  • Cross coverage of all clinical teams as needed.
  • Provides team leadership.
  • Uses EMR to assist with patient care.
  • Clinical skills to include but are not limited to; INR testing, IV placement/infusion, bladder catheterization, suture removal, immunizations/injections.
  • Manages nurse visit schedule which includes but is not limited to: B/P checks, wound care, suture removal, education/teaching, INR testing, prenatal intakes.
  • Responsible for handling urgent/emergent calls and walk-ins per clinic approved advice protocols.
  • Reviews the visit schedule to anticipate healthcare needs of patient panel.
  • Actively coordinates care for patient care as needed.


Responsibilities

  • BSN Graduates: Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing from a program accredited by Commission of Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (CNEA) 30 days before start date.
  • ADN Graduates: Associate Degree in Nursing from an accredited program 30 days before the start date.
  • Associate degree Nurses required to enroll in BSN program within 3 years of hire and complete within 5 years of hire
  • Internal ONA applicants: Associate Degree in Nursing; BSN preferred
  • Current, unencumbered Oregon State Registered Nurse License
  • BLS at time of hire and must be issued by the American Heart Association (AHA)
  • BLS must not expire during orientation
  • Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without accommodation
